Ramona School Update

Dear Ramona Elementary School Community,

Thank you for your collaboration as we have worked together to navigate change this year. This is an update following the August 19 Board of Trustees meeting item about the ongoing review of the Ramona Elementary School facilities.

What We Know

The District’s decision to relocate students and staff was based on the available information we have at this time, collected from the results of the initial preliminary facilities investigation over the summer.

Currently, no immediate structural safety hazard has been identified. Water intrusion has been found in parts of the building that require repair. Similar conditions and repair needs are anticipated in other campus buildings.

The District is now working to determine the scale of the repairs needed to address the issues identified and prevent further damage to the facilities.

What Happens Next

Our consultants are completing final reports and cost estimates. These will help us understand whether the campus can be repaired or if larger rehabilitation or replacement options need to be considered.

The District is reviewing:

• The final structural report
• Estimated repair costs
• State requirements for the project
• Fire, life-safety, and accessibility requirements

A repair timeline has not yet been determined.

Keeping Families Informed

The Board will continue to receive updates at each Board meeting. We will also share new information with families through the District website and Principal Mares’ in-person parent meetings.
